An audio guide for the Long Night of Museums?

Museum Night offers a journey of discovery through the diversity of a city’s cultural landscape. Every year, thousands of visitors flock to your museum—including not only familiar faces, but also many who have only heard of your museum or haven’t been there in a long time. In other words: a broad audience that you would like to turn into returning visitors. To do so, however, you must create a memorable experience.

Personal stories full of emotion, excitement, and character give the institution a unique voice that leaves a lasting impression on the audience. On-site, personal storytelling is unbeatable, but it’s impossible to scale for several thousand visitors. An audio guide provides the necessary support here. This offers visitors an easy introduction and results in greater satisfaction with the museum experience.

A good audio guide is easy to create. That’s right—in our experience, “good” for visitors means a voice with heart, character, and expertise. Instead of a sterile recording studio and a flawless recording, the goal is to convey a sense of liveliness (similar to radio and podcasts).

That’s why the Long Night of Zurich Museums decided to accompany the audience on their journey of discovery with an audio guide. Twenty-one institutions, including the Museum Rietberg and Cabaret Voltaire, created 5- to 10-minute highlight tours. This gave visitors a warm welcome, exciting insights, and a peek behind the scenes—directly from the directors, curators, educators, and artists.

Thanks to the built-in AI filter, studio-quality audio can be achieved at the touch of a button, with virtually no difference from a professional recording studio.

Visitors can open the audio guide using a QR code. The tours are accessible directly, without needing to install an app. They are preloaded in the background to ensure a seamless visitor experience, even in locations without a stable connection.
